OUR POLICIES

Muskie Creek Ltd. was founded in 2008 by a group of experienced truckers who saw an opportunity to provide better service to businesses in the transportation industry. Since then, we have grown into a national carrier with a reputation for reliability and excellence.

Safety Policy

  • All drivers must complete specialized training in ice road operations, defensive driving, and emergency procedures.
  • Speed limits and weight restrictions are strictly enforced based on ice conditions.
  • Daily vehicle inspections are mandatory before departure and after return.
  • Safety equipment (radios, GPS, flares, emergency kits) must be carried at all times.

Environmental Stewardship Policy

  • Fueling and maintenance must be conducted in designated areas to prevent spills.
  • Immediate reporting and containment of any spills or leaks is required.
  • Routes are planned to minimize environmental impact and protect wildlife.
  • Respect for the land and waterways is paramount; traditional knowledge informs best practices.

Indigenous Values & Community Engagement Policy

  • Operations will honour Indigenous traditions, values, and stewardship of the land.
  • Employment and training opportunities will prioritize Indigenous peoples and northern residents.
  • Regular consultation with communities will guide route planning, operations, and impact assessments.

Operational Conduct Policy

  •  All loads must be properly secured and documented before departure.
  • Convoy procedures must be followed when required for safety.
  • Communication must be maintained with dispatch and other drivers at all times.

Weather & Road Condition Policy

  • Trips are only permitted when ice road conditions are verified as safe by local authorities.
  • Operations are suspended during severe weather or unsafe ice conditions.
  • Drivers must report any hazards immediately to dispatch and other road users. All loads must be properly secured and documented before departure.
  • Convoy procedures must be followed when required for safety.
  • Communication must be maintained with dispatch and other drivers at all times.

Emergency Response Policy

  • Drivers must be trained in first aid and cold-weather survival.
  • In case of breakdowns, drivers are required to remain with their vehicle until help arrives, unless unsafe.
  • A 24/7 emergency line is maintained for rapid response.

Equipment & Maintenance Policy

  • Vehicles must undergo regular maintenance schedules suited for extreme cold.
  • Only approved tires, chains, and fluids rated for sub-zero conditions are used.
  • Malfunctioning or unsafe vehicles are removed from service immediately.

Code of Conduct Policy

  • Drivers and staff are expected to act with professionalism, integrity, and respect.
  • Harassment, discrimination, or unsafe behaviour is not tolerated.
  • Pride in representing Indigenous leadership and values is central to all operations.
